The Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Act 2020 (Extension of Operative Period) Regulations 2025

Coming into force 13th December 2025
The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(6) and (12) of the Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Act 2020 (“the Act”), and with the consent of the Scottish Ministers and the Department of Justice for Northern Ireland.The Secretary of State is an appropriate national authority for the purpose of section 2(6) of the Act.In accordance with paragraph 2 of Schedule 6 to the Act, the Secretary of State has consulted such persons as the Secretary of State thinks appropriate.In accordance with paragraph 4(2)(e) of Schedule 6 to the Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament.
Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Act 2020 (Extension of Operative Period) Regulations 2025.
(2) These Regulations come into force on 13th December 2025.
(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Extension of operative period

The operative period for making regulations under subsections (1) to (3) of section 2 of the Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Act 2020 is extended by a period of five years.
