The Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment) Regulations 2025
Made 22nd September 2025
Coming into force 13th October 2025

The Office of Communications (“OFCOM”), in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 12, 13(2) and 122(7) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 (“the Act”), make the following Regulations.

Before making these Regulations, OFCOM have given notice of their proposal to do so in accordance with section 122(4)(a) of the Act, published notice of their proposal in accordance with section 122(4)(b) of the Act, and have considered the representations made to them before the time specified in the notice in accordance with section 122(4)(c) of the Act.
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 and shall come into force on 13th October 2025.
Amendments to the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) Regulations 2020

(1) Schedule 2 (Licence Charges and Payment Intervals) to the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) Regulations 2020 shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4).
(2) Under the heading “Spectrum Access”, in relation to the licence class “Shared Access (Low Power)”, in paragraph (b) in Column 3 (Variable sums), before the words “2390-2400 MHz band” insert “2320-2340 MHz band or”.
(3) Under the heading “Spectrum Access”, in relation to the licence class “Shared Access (Medium Power)”—
(a) in Column 1 (Class of Licence), for the words “Shared Access (Medium Power)” substitute “Shared Access (Medium Power Rural Areas)”; and
(b) in paragraph (b) in Column 3 (Variable sums), before the words “2390-2400 MHz band” insert “2320-2340 MHz band or”.
(4) Under the heading “Spectrum Access”, after the licence class “Shared Access (Medium Power)” (which is amended in paragraph (3)(b) to “Shared Access (Medium Power Rural Areas)”) and before the licence class “Spectrum Access Offshore Mobile”, insert the following entry—
Shared Access (Medium Power Urban Areas)  (a) £160 for each authorisation under a licence of use of a 2 x 3.3 MHz channel in the 1800 MHz band. 12 months
  (b) £160 for each 10 MHz channel under a licence of use in the 2320-2340 MHz or 2390-2400 MHz bands. 12 months
  (c) £160 for each 10 MHz channel under a licence of use in the 3.8-4.2 GHz band. 12 months
  (d) £80 for each authorisation under a licence of use of a 100 MHz channel in the 24.45-27.5 GHz or 40.5-43.5 GHz bands 12 months
