The Ashford (Electoral Changes) (No. 2) Order 2023

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2) and (3)

Under section 92(2) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, Ashford Borough Council (“the Council”) made recommendations in a review to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England for the related alteration of the boundaries of electoral divisions within the Council’s area.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has decided to give effect to the recommendations and makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 92(3) of that Act.
Citation and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Ashford (Electoral Changes) (No. 2) Order 2023.
(2) This article comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.
(3) Article 2 comes into force—
(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2024;
(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2025.
(4) This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.
Alteration of electoral division boundaries

(1) The area marked A on Plan 4 as referred to in the Ashford Borough (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order No 1 2016 (“the Order”), which ceased to be part of the parish of Shadoxhurst and became part of the parish of Great Chart with Singleton in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural West.
(2) The area marked D on Plan 4 as referred to in the Order, which ceased to be part of the parish of Great Chart with Singleton and became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural West and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.
(3) The area marked A on Plan 6 referred to in the Order, which became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford East and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.
(4) The area marked B on Plan 6 referred to in the Order, which became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford East and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.
(5) The area marked C on Plan 6 as referred to in the Order, which ceased to be part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford East.
