The Chelmsford (Electoral Changes) Order 2023

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2) and (3)

Under section 92(2) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, Chelmsford City Council (“the Council”) made recommendations in a review to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England for the related alteration of the boundaries of a number of district wards within the Council’s area.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has decided to give effect to the recommendations and makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 92(3) of that Act.
Citation, commencement, extent and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the Chelmsford (Electoral Changes) Order 2023.
(2) This article comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.
(3) Article 2 comes into force—
(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on the day after the day on which this Order is made;
(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2023.
(4) This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.
Alteration of district ward boundaries

(1) The area that ceases to be part of the parish ward of Rothmans in the parish of Great Baddow and becomes an unparished area by virtue of the Chelmsford City Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2022 (“the Council’s Order”) ceases to be part of the Great Baddow West district ward and becomes part of the Goat Hall district ward.
(2) The area that ceases to be part of the parish ward of Baddow Road in the parish of Great Baddow and becomes an unparished area by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Great Baddow East district ward and becomes part of the Moulsham & Central district ward.
(3) The unparished area that becomes part of the parish ward of Baddow Road in the parish of Great Baddow by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Moulsham & Central district ward and becomes part of the Great Baddow East district ward.
