The Universal Credit (Childcare) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023

Coming into operation 28th June 2023

The Department for Communities makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 17(1) and (3), 48(1) and (5) of the Welfare Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 2015.

The powers are exercisable by the Department for Communities by virtue of Article 2 of the Welfare Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 2015 (Cessation of Transitory Provision) Order 2020.
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Universal Credit (Childcare) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and come into operation on 28th June 2023.
Amendment of the Universal Credit Regulations

(1) The Universal Credit Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 are amended as follows.
(2) In regulation 38 (Amounts of elements), in the table—
(a) in the row under “Childcare costs element” showing the maximum amount for one child, for “£646.35” substitute “£950.92”;
(b) in the row under “Childcare costs element” showing the maximum amount for two or more children, for “£1,108.04” substitute “£1,630.15”.
