The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees)(Amendment) Order 2012

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers, now vested in her, conferred by section 5(1) and (2) of, and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 to, the Public Expenditure and Receipts Act 1968.
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) (Amendment) Order 2012 and shall come into force on 1st April 2012.
Amendment of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 2010

(1) Omit article 1, sub-paragraph (2)(a) of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 2010.
(2) For article 1, sub-paragraph (2)(d) of that Order substitute—“
 a “priority service” is a service provided to a person who, by paying the correct fee and giving the relevant information, makes an application to the Registrar General by 1600 hours on any working day and which is normally provided on or before the next working day by sending by first class post or to a person attending in person at the General Register Office between 1000 hours and 1600 hours;”.
(3) For article 1, sub-paragraph (2)(e) of that Order substitute—“
 a “standard service” is a service provided to a person who, by paying the correct fee and giving the relevant information, makes an application to the Registrar General by 1600 hours on any working day and which is normally provided either—
(i) in a case where that application includes a reference number relating to an index kept by the Registrar General under section 65(1) of the 1949 Act or section 30(1) or (1A) of the 1953 Act on or before the 4th working day after the working day on which such application is made; or
(ii) in a case where that application does not include such a reference number on or before the 15th working day after the working day on which such application is madeby sending by second class post or to a person attending in person at the General Register Office between 1000 hours and 1600 hours;”.

For article 2 of that Order substitute—“The fee payable is the relevant fee in the fourth column of the Schedule to this Order.”.
