The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Order 1993

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with section 20(6) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1979;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 20(1)(d), (2), (3) and (4) of the said Act and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Order 1993 and shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made.

In the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) Order 1983, for sub-paragraph (bb) of article 3(1) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph—“
(bb) amendments thereto adopted by the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization—
(i) at its 20th Session by Resolution MEPC 14(20);
(ii) at its 30th Session by Resolution MEPC 42(30) so far as relating to Annex I of MARPOL 73/78 (that is to say, of the Convention as modified by the Protocol);
(iii) at its 31st Session by Resolution MEPC 47(31); and
(iv) at its 32nd Session by Resolution MEPC 51(32) and Resolution 52(32);”.
