Atomic Energy Authority Act 1959

An Act to increase the maximum number of members of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, and to enable the Authority to include in their pension schemes staff of the National Institute for Research in Nuclear Science.

 Increase of maximum number of members of Authority.

In subsection (2) of section one of the Atomic Energy Authority Act, 1954 (which provides that the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority shall consist of a chairman and not less than seven nor more than ten other members) for the word “ten” there shall be substituted the word “fifteen”.
 Provision of pensions for staff of the National Institute for Research in Nuclear Science.

Any scheme maintained by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority under sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 7 of the First Schedule to the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1954 (which enables the Authority to pay pensions, or to provide and maintain pension schemes, for their officers and other persons employed by them) may apply to officers and other persons employed by the National Institute for Research in Nuclear Science as well as to officers and other persons employed by the Authority.
 Expenses.

There shall be defrayed out of moneys provided by Parliament any increase attributable to the provisions of this Act in the sums payable out of moneys so provided under section four of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1954.
 Short title and citation.

This Act may be cited as the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1959, and the Atomic Energy and Radioactive Substances Acts 1946 to 1954 and this Act may be cited together as the Atomic Energy and Radioactive Substances Acts 1946 to 1959.
