This Instrument may be cited as the Nottingham City Council (River Trent Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge) Scheme 2024 Confirmation Instrument 2024 and shall come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

The Nottingham City Council (River Trent Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge) Scheme 2024 (“the Scheme”) is hereby confirmed.

The Scheme as confirmed including its Schedules and plans are set out in the Schedules to this Instrument and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department for Transport, Deposited Documents Service, MHCLG, 1 Priory Square, Priory Street, Hastings, East Sussex, TN34 1EA and at the offices of Nottingham City Council, Loxley House, Station Street Nottingham NG2 3NG.

THE SCHEDULE
Article 3

The Nottingham City Council (“the Council”) makes this Scheme in exercise of its powers under section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf.

The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable wates of the River Trent the cycle and pedestrian bridge (“the Bridge”) specified in the Schedule to this Scheme within the Councils administrative area (on the north bank of the River Trent) and within the administrative area of Nottinghamshire County Council (on the south bank of the River Trent).

By way of an Agreement dated 26th June 2024 made pursuant to Section 8 of the highways Act 1980 the Council is authorised to exercise the specified functions on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council for this Scheme and other related matters.

The Scheme may be cited as “The Nottingham City Council (River Trent Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge) Scheme 2024”.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEME
Article 3
The location of the Bridge is shown on the Plan at Appendix A (drawing No. RTF-RAM-GEN-WB01-DR-CB-00006 Rev P03) and the general arrangement and design is shown on the plan at Appendix B (Drawing No. RTF-RAM-GEN-WB01-DR-CB-00002 Rev P04) which are attached to this Scheme and titled “The Nottingham City Council (River Trent Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge) Scheme 2024”.
The Bridge commences at a point on Trent Basin on the north bank of the River Trent (to the west of Portside Street) in the City of Nottingham at Ordnance Survey grid reference 458 875 E 338 829 N and terminates on the south bank of the River Trent at a point on West Bridgford public footpath number 12 Lady Bay in the Borough of Rushcliffe Nottinghamshire at Ordnance Survey grid reference 458 868 E 338 742 N.
The maximum single span across the River Trent will be 87.0 metres.
The maximum width over the River Trent will be 5.2 metres.
There will be a minimum headway clearance of 6.0 metres for a 42.0 metre width channel and minimum headway clearance 6.3 metres for a 30.0 metres width channel (measured above a water level of 21.0 metres AOD).
There will be a minimum clear navigable waterway of 82.0 metres.
The Bridge will have an overall length of 87.0 metres and overall width of 5.2 metres. The overall available shared width for cyclists and pedestrians will be 4.0 metres.
The Bridge will have a waterproof and skid resistant flexible resin and aggregate surface.
The approach ramp running east along the north bank will have a length of 30.0 metres and a width of 3.5 metres and the approach ramp running west will have a length of 40.0 metres and a width of 3.5 metres. The approach ramp running west along the south bank will have a length of 98.0 metres and a width of 3.5 metres. The approaches will have a waterproof and skid resistant resin and aggregate surface.
