These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 27th July 2006.

(1) The By-Laws relating to Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951 shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (6).
(2) In by-law 1—
(a) in paragraph (a), for the word “six” there shall be substituted “eight”; and
(b) for paragraph (h) there shall be substituted—“
(h) The expression “Public Vehicles Inspector” means an examiner appointed by the Department under Article 74 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.
(hh) The expression “Licensing Officer” means a person authorised by the Department to issue public service vehicle licences.”.
(3) In by-law 15, the words from “and shall wear” to the end shall be omitted.

(5) In by-law 27, for the words “Constable, a Public Vehicles Inspector or the Executive Officer for the time being of the Council’s Police Committee” there shall be substituted “Constable, a Public Vehicles Inspector or the Licensing Officer”.
(6) By-law 30 shall be revoked.

The Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2004 are hereby revoked.
