(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Students and Income-Related Benefits Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation –
(a) for the purposes of this regulation and regulation 3, on 31st July 2003;
(b) for the purposes of regulation 2 –
(i) in the case of a student whose period of study begins on or after 1st August 2003 but before 1st September 2003, on the day the period of study begins;
(ii) in any other case, on 1st September 2003.
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

(1) In sub-paragraph (b) of each of the provisions specified in paragraph (2) for the sum “£327” there shall be substituted the sum “£335”.
(2) The provisions specified for the purposes of paragraph (1) (which relate respectively to sums to be disregarded from the calculation of grant income and from student loans) are –
(a) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
(b) regulations 62(2A) and 66A(5) of the Income Support (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987;
(c) regulations 131(3) and 136(5) of the Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996.

Regulation 2(2) of the Social Security (Students and Income-Related Benefits Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (disregards) shall be omitted.
