These Regulations may be cited as the Child Resistant Packaging (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 16th July 1993.

The Child Resistant Packaging (Safety) Regulations 1986 shall have effect subject to the following amendments–
(a) in regulation 3(1)–
(i) for the word and number “and (5)” there shall be substituted the following “, (5) and (6)”;
(ii) following the word “any” where it first appears there shall be inserted the word “reclosable”; and
(iii) for “the British Standard Specification for packagings resistant to opening by children BS6652:1989 published by the British Standards Institution on30th June 1989 subject to any further amendments made thereto by the Secretary of State.” there shall be substituted the following “the British Standard Specification for child-resistant packaging-requirements and testing procedures for reclosable packages BSEN28317:1993 published by the British Standards Institution on 15 February 1993.”; and
(b) in regulation 3, after paragraph (5) there shall be added the following paragraph:–“
(6) For the purpose of paragraph (1) of this regulation any packaging approved on or before 31st May 1993 by the British Standards Institution as complying with the requirements of the British Standard Specification for packagings resistant to opening by children BS6652:1989 shall be treated as complying in all respects with BSEN28317.”.
