(1) These Regulations may be cited as The Medical Profession (Responsible Officers) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2022.
(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Medical Profession (Responsible Officers) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010.

The principal Regulations are amended as mentioned in regulations 3 to 8.

In regulation 1(2) (Citation, commencement and interpretation)—
(a) in the definition of “the Department” omit “,Social Services and Public Safety”,
(b) omit the definition of “the Regional Health and Social Care Board”.

In regulation 3(3), after “medical practitioner”, add “or the body is providing services to the Department in the circumstances prescribed in regulation 8(1)(c).”

(1) For the heading of regulation 4, substitute “Duty to nominate or appoint additional responsible officers in certain cases”.
(2) In regulation 4(1)(b), at the end omit the full-stop and insert—“or
(c) a prescribed connection under regulation 8(1)(c) exists between the designated body and a medical practitioner.”.

In regulation 8(1)(c) (Connection between designated bodies and medical practitioners), after “designated body” insert “or by a person who provides services to the designated body”.

In regulation 10 (Connection between designated bodies and medical practitioners who are responsible officers)—
(a) in paragraph (2), for “paragraph (3)” substitute “paragraphs (3) and (4)”
(b) omit paragraph (2)(b),
(c) in paragraph (3), after “these Regulations”, insert “, unless the medical practitioner is employed by a person who provides services to the Department in the circumstances prescribed in regulation 8(1)(c).”,
(d) after paragraph 3, insert the following—“
(4) Where the medical practitioner is employed by a person who provides services to the Department in the circumstances prescribed in regulation 8(1)(c), body B is the Regional Agency for Public Health and Social Well-Being.”.

In Schedule 1, in Part 1(Designated bodies), omit paragraph 2.
