(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Services (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 and shall come into operation on 18th July 2014.
(2) In these Regulations “the Pharmaceutical Regulations” means the Pharmaceutical Services Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997.

(1) Regulation 2 of the Pharmaceutical Regulations (interpretation) is amended as follows.
(2) after the definition of “child” insert the following definition—“
 “chiropodist or podiatrist independent prescriber” means a chiropodist or podiatrist who is registered in Part 2 of the register maintained under Article 5 of the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001 (establishment and maintenance of register), and against whose name in that register is recorded an annotation signifying that the chiropodist or podiatrist is qualified to order drugs and appliances as a chiropodist or podiatrist independent prescriber;”
(3) after the definition of “pharmacy” insert the following definition—“
 “physiotherapist independent prescriber” means a physiotherapist who is registered in Part 9 of the register maintained under Article 5 of the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001, and against whose name in that register is recorded an annotation signifying that the physiotherapist is qualified to order drugs and appliances as a physiotherapist independent prescriber;”
(4) for the definition of “prescriber” substitute—“
 “prescriber” means a doctor, a dentist, a chiropodist or podiatrist independent prescriber, an independent nurse prescriber, an optometrist independent prescriber, a pharmacist independent prescriber, a physiotherapist independent prescriber or a supplementary prescriber;”
