(1) This Order may be cited as the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 (Handling Complaints and Specification of Interest Rates) Order 2008 and comes into force on 30th January 2009.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007.

For the purposes of section 23(4)(b) of the Act the specified date is the date on which the relevant professional organisation sent its written decision on its investigations of the conduct complaint to the complainer and practitioner concerned.

For the purposes of section 27(3)(b) of the Act the specified interest rate is a rate equivalent to the base rate of the Bank of England plus two per cent per annum.

For the purposes of section 28(3)(b) of the Act the specified interest rate is a rate equivalent to the base rate of the Bank of England plus four per cent per annum.
