These Regulations may be cited as The Traffic Signs (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 13th November 2006.

(1) The Traffic Signs Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) to (3).
(2) In Schedule 6 (road markings)—
(a) after diagram 1014 there shall be inserted the diagram specified in Part I of the Schedule and the words specified in and under it;
(b) for the words “Alternative types of parking bay reserved for doctors-(a) at the edge of the carriageway or situated wholly on either the carriageway or the footway; or (b) in the centre of the carriageway or partly on the carriageway and partly on the footway” below diagram 1028.4 there shall be substituted the wording specified in Part II of the Schedule;
(c) for the words “Designated parking place” below diagram 1032 there shall be substituted the wording specified in Part III of the Schedule;
(d) in item 2 of the table below diagram 1032—
(i) immediately before the words “641” there shall be inserted “639.1A, ”; and
(ii) after the words “664” there shall be inserted “, 801”; and
(e) for the words “Echelon parking spaces subject to such conditions, if any, as may be in force” below diagram 1033 there shall be substituted the wording specified in Part IV of the Schedule.
(3) In Schedule 17 (illumination requirements) in item 10 in column (2) after the words “1014” there shall be inserted “, 1016.1”.

PART II“
(a) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 639.1A, 660, 660.3, 660.5, 660.6, 660.7, 661.1, 661.2, 661.3, 662, 663, 663.1, 664 or 801, to indicate to vehicular traffic alternative types of parking bay reserved for doctors—
(i) at the edge of the carriageway or situated wholly on either the carriageway or the footway; or
(ii) in the centre of the carriageway or partly on the carriageway and partly on the footway; or
(b) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 641 and placed at the edge of the carriageway and the word “DOCTOR” omitted, to indicate to vehicular traffic that waiting by vehicles on a side of a length of road is prohibited or restricted during the period indicated on that sign”
PART III“
(a) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 641, to indicate to vehicular traffic that waiting by vehicles on a side of a length of road is prohibited or restricted during the period indicated on that sign; or
(b) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 639.1A, 660, 660.3, 660.4, 660.5, 660.6, 660.7, 661, 661A, 661.1, 661.2, 661.3, 662, 663, 663.1, 664 or 801, to indicate to vehicular traffic a parking bay marked with individual parking spaces subject to such conditions, if any, as may be in force”
PART IV“
(a) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 641, to indicate to vehicular traffic that waiting by vehicles on a side of a length of road is prohibited or restricted during the period indicated on that sign; or
(b) when used in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 639.1A, 660, 660.3, 660.4, 660.5, 660.6, 660.7, 661, 661A, 661.1, 661.2, 661.3, 662, 663, 663.1, 664 or 801, to indicate to vehicular traffic a parking bay marked with individual parking spaces subject to such conditions, if any, as may be in force
