This Order may be cited as the A51 Trunk Road in Cheshire (A51/A41 Junction to A51/A49 Roundabout and A51/A49 Junction (Four Lanes End) to A51/A500 Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2002.

In this Order—

(i) “the plan” means the plan numbered HA10/PS/260, consisting of sheets 1 and 2 and marked “The A51 Trunk Road in Cheshire (A51/A41 Junction to A51/A49 Tarporley Roundabout and A51/A49 Junction (Four Lanes End) to A51/A500 Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2001”, signed by the authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, and deposited at the DTLR Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St. Leonards-on-Sea TN37 7GA.

(ii) “principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(iii) “the trunk road” means the A51 Trunk Road.

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE

The lengths of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road are situated in the Boroughs of Vale Royal and Crewe and Nantwich, and the City of Chester in the County of Cheshire between the A51/A41 junction (marked “A” on the plan) and the A51/A49 Tarporley roundabout (marked “B” on the plan) and the A51/A49 Four Lane Ends junction (marked “C” on the plan) and A51/A500 roundabout (marked “D” on the plan) and are shown by broad black dashes, and are approximately 26.6km in length
