These Regulations may be cited as the Community Drivers' Hours (Passenger and Goods Vehicles) (Temporary Exception) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 2nd October 2000.

(1) For regulaton 2 of the Community Drivers' Hours (Passenger and Goods Vehicles) (Temporary Exception) Regulations 2000 there shall be substituted the following regulation:“

(1) Pursuant to Article 13(2) of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3820/85 of 20th December 1985 on the harmonisation of certain social legislation relating to road transport, until 6th October 2000 any time spent driving a tanker to meet exceptional circumstances occasioned by the disruption of fuel supplies in Great Britain or the effects or consequences of such exceptional circumstances shall not be taken into account for the purposes of the application of Article 6, 8(3), 8(4) or 8(5) of that Regulation.
(2) In paragraph (1) above “tanker” means a road tanker, as defined in regulation 2 of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (Classification, Packaging and Labelling) and Use of Transportable Pressure Receptacles Regulations 1996, which is being used for the carriage of petroleum products.”.
