This Order may be cited as the School Teachers' Remuneration Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st September 2000.

In this Order—
 “authority” means a local education authority; and
 “relevant post” means a post in a school maintained by an authority to teach a subject for which there is a shortage of teachers.

For the purposes of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Act 1991, a lump sum incentive payment made by an authority or the governing body of a school maintained by an authority to a school teacher—
(a) on his taking up a relevant post following his qualification as a teacher; or
(b) following the successful completion of his induction period, on his taking up or remaining in a relevant post,shall not be regarded as remuneration.
