These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.

In these Regulations, any reference to a regulation by number alone is a reference to the regulation so numbered in the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) (Regulations) 1989.

In regulation 2, after the definition of “legal executive” the following shall be inserted:“
 “the Legal Services Commission” means the Legal Services Commission established under section 1 of the Access to Justice Act 1999;”

(1) The following words shall be inserted at the beginning of regulation 4(1): “Subject to paragraph (3),”.
(2) The following paragraph shall be inserted after regulation 4(2):“
(3) These Regulations shall not apply to costs in proceedings in relation to which the Legal Services Commission has granted a contract which determines costs, except to the extent that the terms of the contract provide otherwise.”.
