(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages) (England) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.
(2) In this Order—
 “The Document” means the Document published by the Stationery Office entitled “Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages”.
(3) This Order applies only to pupils at:
(a) any community, foundation or voluntary school; or
(b) any community or foundation special school not established in a hospital,
in England.

The Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages) Order 1995 is hereby revoked.

It is hereby directed that the provisions relating to attainment targets and programmes of study set out in the Document shall have effect for the purposes of specifying attainment targets and programmes of study in relation to Modern Foreign Languages.

The examples [and other passages] printed in grey text within square brackets in the Document (which serve to illustrate the programmes of study described therein [or relate to background information]) do not form part of the provisions made by this Order.
