(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 28th April 2000, but regulation 4(b) shall have effect from 1st April 1998 and regulations 3 and 4(a) shall have effect from 13th January 2000.
(2) In regulation 5, expressions which are also used in the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations 1997 have the same meaning as they have in those Regulations.

The Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations 1997 shall be amended in accordance with regulations 3 and 4 of these Regulations.

In regulation 5—
(a) in paragraph (17)(a)(i) and (ii) for “long term business” substitute “general business”; and
(b) in paragraph (17)(a)(ii), for “, or providing long term insurance” substitute “or providing insurance of an appropriate class within general business”.

In Schedule 1—
(a) in the definitions of “Admission agreement employee” and “Scheme employer”, for “regulation 5(10)” substitute “regulation 5(16)”; and
(b) in the definition of “Scheme employer”, after “means a” insert “resolution body listed in regulation 4(6) or a”.

The amendment made by regulation 3 shall not affect the validity of any indemnity or bond in an approved form with an authorised insurer, as defined by the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations 1997 before their amendment by these Regulations, which was made before the date on which these Regulations come into force.
