This Order may be cited as the Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000 and shall come into operation on 28th February 2000.

After Article 4(B) of the Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) Order (Northern Ireland) 1977 (“the 1977 Order”) there shall be inserted the following Article:“
4C 

(1) The following provisions shall not apply in the case of pet cats or pet dogs which have been
(a) brought into England under and in accordance with the provisions of the Pet Travel Scheme (Pilot Arrangements) (England) Order 1999; or
(b) released from quarantine there in accordance with Article 5A of the Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) Order 1974
and subsequently brought to Northern Ireland, that is to say—
(i) the prohibition and restrictions on landing contained in Articles 4(1), (7) and (8);
(ii) the requirements in respect of detention and isolation in quarantine contained in Article 5(2);
(iii) the controls on the movement of animals on landing contained in Article 7; and
(iv) the prohibitions and requirements in respect of detention and isolation on board vessels in harbour contained in Article 12.
(2) In paragraph (1) “pet cats” and “pet dogs” shall have the same meaning as in the Pet Travel Scheme (Pilot Arrangements) (England) Order 1999.”.
