(1) This Order may be cited as the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1999.
(2) In this Order—
 “the Act” means the Health Act 1999;
 “the 1977 Act” means the National Health Service Act 1977.
(3) This Order extends to England and article 2(1)(b) extends also to Wales.

(1) 1st October 1999 is the day appointed for the coming into force of—
(a) each provision of the Act specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this Order; and
(b) sections 42 to 44 of the Act.
(2) 4th January 2000 is the day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 16, and paragraph 4 in so far as it relates to that paragraph, of Schedule 4 to the Act and section 65(1) of the Act in so far as it relates to those paragraphs.
