This Order may be cited as the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (Addition of Qualifying Judicial Offices) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st June 1999.

In Part II of Schedule 1 to the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (offices which may be qualifying judicial offices for the purposes of Part I of the Act) there shall be added at the end of the entry headed “Other officers whose holders are appointed by the Lord Chancellor” the following offices–“
Member of a panel constituted under section 6(1) of the Social Security Act 1998 who–
(a) is appointed to serve full-time as a member of that panel; and
(b) either–
(i) has a general qualification (construed in accordance with section 71 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990); or
(ii) is an advocate or solicitor in Scotland
Member of a panel constituted under Article 7(1) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 who–
(a) is appointed to serve full-time as a member of that panel; and
(b) is a barrister or solicitor
”.

At the end of Schedule 5 to that Act (retirement provisions: the relevant offices) there shall be added the following offices–“Member of a panel constituted under section 6(1) of the Social Security Act 1998Member of a panel constituted under Article 7(1) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998”.
