This Order may be cited as the Police (Secretary of State’s Objectives) (No. 2) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 14th June 1999.

The Police (Secretary of State’s Objectives) Order 1999 is hereby revoked.

The objectives for the policing of the areas of all police authorities established under section 3 of the Police Act 1996 are–
(a) to deal speedily and effectively with young offenders and to work with other agencies to reduce offending and re-offending by young people;
(b) to identify and reduce local problems of crime and disorder in partnership with local authorities, other local agencies and the public;
(c) to target and reduce drug-related crime in partnership with other local agencies, in particular local Drug Action Teams or local Drug and Alcohol Action Teams, and having regard to the Command Paper entitled “Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain: the Government’s Ten-Year Strategy for Tackling Drugs Misuse”; and
(d) to increase trust and confidence in policing amongst minority ethnic communities.
