(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Fund Winter Fuel Payment (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 28th October 1999.
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

(1) For the purposes of determining whether a person shall be entitled to a winter fuel payment for the winter of 1999 to 2000 and for subsequent winters and its amount, the Social Fund Winter Fuel Payment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 shall apply as amended by the Social Fund Winter Fuel Payment (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 subject to the following further amendments.
(2) in regulation 1(2) (interpretation) in the definition of “the qualifying week” for “9th November 1998” there shall be substituted “the third Monday in September in each year in respect of a winter fuel payment for the following winter,”.
(3) In regulation 3(1) (prescribed amount)—
(a) in sub-paragraph (a) for “£50” there shall be substituted “£100”;
(b) in sub-paragraph (b)(i) and (ii) for “£20” there shall be substituted “£100”;
(c) in sub-paragraph (b)(iii) for “£10” there shall be substituted “£50”.
