These Regulations may be cited as the Community Drivers' Hours and Recording Equipment (Exemptions and Supplementary Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 9th August 1999.

(1) In paragraph 2(1) of the Schedule to the Community Drivers' Hours and Recording Equipment (Exemptions and Supplementary Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987 (exempted vehicles), for paragraph (a) there shall be substituted the following paragraph—“
(a) a health and social services body—
(i) to provide ambulance services and services for the conveyance of persons suffering from illness, expectant or nursing mothers or other persons for whom such transport is reasonably required; or
(ii) to carry staff, patients, medical supplies or equipment,
in pursuance of its duties under the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, the Health and Personal Social Services (Special Agencies) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990 or the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1991;”.
(2) In paragraph 2(2) of that Schedule, after the definition of “harbour” and “harbour authority” there shall be inserted the following definition—“
 “health and social services body” means—
(a) a Health and Social Services Board established under Article 16(1) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972;
(b) the Agency established under Article 26(1) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972;
(c) a special agency established under Article 3(1) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Special Agencies) (Northern Ireland) 1990; or
(d) a Health and Social Services trust established under Article 10(1) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1991.”.
