This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (Commencement No. 12 and Transitional Provision) Order 1998.

In this Order, “the 1994 Act” means the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.

(1) Subject to article 4 below, sections 1 to 4 of the 1994 Act (secure training orders) shall come into force on 1st March 1998.
(2) Section 168(2) of and Schedule 10 to the 1994 Act, so far as not already in force, shall come into force on that date.
(3) Section 168(3) of the 1994 Act shall, so far as it is not already in force, come into force on that date to the extent necessary to bring into force on that date the following entries in Schedule 11 to the 1994 Act:
1952 c. 52 Prison Act 1952 In section 43(1), the word “and” at the end of paragraph (b).
1967 c. 80 Criminal Justice Act 1967 In section 67(5), the word “and” at the end of paragraph (a).
1982 c. 48 Criminal Justice Act 1982 In Schedule 14, paragraph 8.

Section 1 of the 1994 Act (power to make a secure training order) shall not have effect where the offence referred to in subsection (1)(a) of that section was committed before 1st March 1998.
