(1) This Order may be cited as the Housing (Right To Acquire) (Discount) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 9th September 1998.
(2) In this Order “area” means a “county” or “district” as defined by section 270 of the Local Government Act 1972, a London borough or the City of London.

The following amounts of discount are specified for the purpose of section 17(1)(a) of the Housing Act 1996 (the right to acquire)—
(a) £16,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 1 to this Order;
(b) £13,500 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 2 to this Order;
(c) £11,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 3 to this Order;
(d) £10,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 4 to this Order; and
(e) £9,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 5 to this Order.

The Housing (Right to Acquire) (Discount) Order 1997 is hereby revoked.

Articles 1 to 3 of this Order do not apply in a case where a notice has been served claiming to exercise the right to acquire before this Order comes into force.
