This Order may be cited as the Yorkshire Ouse (Pilotage Powers) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 22nd June 1998.

In this Order—
 “the Board” means the British Waterways Board;
 “the harbour” means the navigation area described in the Act entitled “An Act for improving the Navigation of the River Ouze, in the County of York”.

(1) The Board shall be a competent harbour authority for the purposes of the Pilotage Act 1987.
(2) References in the Pilotage Act 1987 to the harbour authority’s harbour in their application to the Board’s harbour shall be taken as references to the area within the harbour which comprises the waters of the river Ouse bounded by—
(a) an imaginary straight line drawn across the river Ouse at a distance of 91.44 metres below and parallel to the south side of the bridge known as Skelton or Hook Railway Bridge at latitude 53°42'. 7 N; and
(b) an imaginary straight line running West across the river Ouse at latitude 53°47'. 5 N at Barlby.
