(1) This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (Primary Care) Act 1997 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1997.
(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the National Health Service (Primary Care) Act 1997.

(1) 15th August 1997 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Act specified in column (1) of the Schedule to this Order (the subject matter of each provision being mentioned in column (2)).
(2) 22nd August 1997 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 4 of the Act (proposals for pilot schemes), in so far as it relates to pilot schemes under which personal medical services are provided.
(3) 1st September 1997 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 31 of the Act (provision of certain services under NHS contracts).
