This Order may be cited as the Protection of Wrecks (Designation) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 8th July 1997.

(1) The site in respect of which this Order is made is hereby identified as the site where the vessel HMS “Assurance” lies wrecked on the sea bed at Latitude 50°39.70' North, Longitude 01°35.45' West.
(2) The area to the west of Longitude 01°35.35' West within a distance of 200m of Latitude 53°39.70' North, Longitude 01°35.43' West, but excluding any part of that area which lies above high water mark of ordinary spring tides, shall be a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.

The Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 5) Order 1974 is hereby revoked.
