(1) This Order may be cited as the West Glasgow Hospitals University National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 1996 and shall come into force on 14th February 1996.
(2) In this Order “the principal Order” means the West Glasgow Hospitals University National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993.

For article 3 of the principal Order there shall be substituted the following:—“

(1) The trust is established for the purposes specified in section 12A(1) of the Act.
(2) The trust’s functions (which include functions which the Secretary of State considers appropriate in relation to the provision of services by the trust for one or more health boards) shall be—
(a) to own and manage under section 12A(1)(a) of the Act the hospital establishments or facilities known as the Western Infirmary, Drumchapel Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital, Belvidere Oncology Unit, Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital and Glasgow Eye Infirmary, all in Glasgow and establishments associated with those hospitals, including management of the facilities provided at and from those establishments, and also including the management of any teaching and research facilities associated with these establishments and the support services related thereto; and
(b) to provide and manage under section 12A(1)(b) of the Act a new hospital and associated facilities to replace Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital.”.
