This Order may be cited as the Cornwall (Coroners' Districts) (Amendment) Order 1996.

(1) This Order shall come into force on 1st October 1996.
(2) This Order shall not have effect in relation to any inquest begun before the day on which it comes into force or to any post-mortem examination which, before that day, a coroner has directed or requested a medical practitioner to make.

(1) The existing Number One coroner’s district and Number Two coroner’s district shall be amalgamated to form new coroner’s district to be named the West Cornwall coroner’s district.
(2) The existing Number Three coroner’s district shall be renamed the East Cornwall coroner’s district.
4 

(1) The Cornwall (Coroners' Districts) Order 1974 shall accordingly be amended as follows:
(a) in article 3, for the word “three” there shall be substituted the word “two”; and
(b) for the Schedule, there shall be substituted the Schedule to this Order.
(2) The Cornwall (Coroners' Districts) (Amendment) Order 1991 is hereby revoked.
