(1) This Order may be cited as the Contracting Out (Functions relating to Wireless Telegraphy) Order 1996.
(2) This Order shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

(1) In this Order — 
 “the Act”means the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949; and
 “programme making”includes the making of a programme for broadcast, the making of a film, presentation, advertisement or audio or video tape, and the staging or performance of an entertainment, sporting or other public event.
(2) In this Order, “broadcast”and “programme”shall be construed in accordance with section 202(1) of the Broadcasting Act 1990.

The functions of the Secretary of State under section 1 (licensing of wireless telegraphy) of the Act insofar as they relate to programme making may be exercised by, or by employees of, such person (if any) as may be authorised in that behalf by the Secretary of State.
