These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment No. 2) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 9th December 1996.

For by-law 26(1) of the By-Laws relating to Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951 there shall be substituted—“
26 

(1) The fares payable for the hire of a Motor Hackney Carriage within the prescribed limits shall be—

(a) fare where not more than 4 passengers are carried— for the first one and one-half miles or part of such distance minimum £2·00
  maximum £2·00
 for every subsequent one-tenth of a mile or part of such distance minimum 10p
  maximum 10p
 for each minute or part of a minute during which the taxi is kept waiting by the hirer minimum 13·3p

(b) additional fare— for each passenger exceeding 4 carried for the entire distance maximumminimummaximum 13·3p20p20p
 for each piece of luggage carried on the outside of the taxi minimummaximum 20p20p
 In assessing additional fares every child under the age of 6 years and/ or one child over 6 and under 12 years shall be disregarded. Two children between the ages of 6 and 12 years shall be counted as one passenger.  ”.

The Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1990 and the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1992 are hereby revoked.
