(1) This Order may be cited as the Railways (Registers) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1 April 1994.
(2) In this Order—
 “the Act” means the Railways Act 1993;
 “bank holiday” means a day which is a bank holiday under the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 in the locality in which are situated the premises at which the Regulator’s register, or, as the case may be, the Franchising Director’s register, is for the time being maintained;
 “emergency” includes power failure;
 “the Franchising Director’s register” means the register maintained by the Franchising Director pursuant to section 73 of the Act;
 “the Regulator’s register” means the register maintained by the Regulator pursuant to section 72 of the Act;
 “working day” means any day other than a Saturday, a Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday, a bank holiday or an official holiday.

The contents of the Regulator’s register and the contents of the Franchising Director’s register shall be available for inspection by the public, without payment of any fee, between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on each working day except when the premises, at which the Regulator’s register, or, as the case may be, the Franchising Director’s register, is maintained, are closed by reason of an emergency.

The fee for the supply of a copy of, or an extract from, any part of the Regulator’s register certified by the Regulator to be a true copy or extract, or any part of the Franchising Director’s register certified by the Franchising Director to be a true copy or extract, shall be £2.00 together with 10p for each page supplied.
