(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Promotion) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 14th August 1994.
(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Police (Promotion) (Scotland) Regulations 1968.

In regulation 3 of the principal Regulations, for the words “regulation 6(1) and (2)” there shall be substituted “regulations 6(1) and (2) and 6A(2)”.

After regulation 6 of the principal Regulations, there shall be inserted the following regulation:–“
6A 
–
(1) In this regulation “APP” means a programme for the time being designated by the Secretary of State for the purposes of this regulation as an Accelerated Promotion Programme.
(2) Without prejudice to promotion in accordance with the foregoing regulations a constable of the rank of constable who is selected to attend an APP and who at the commencement of the programme is qualified under regulation 2 for promotion to the rank of sergeant shall be promoted temporarily to the rank of sergeant on the first day of his attendance.”.
