(1) This Order may be cited as the Greater Manchester and Lancashire (County and District Boundaries) Order 1993.
(2) This Order shall come into force on 1st December 1993 for any purpose set out in regulation 4(1) of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976.
(3) For all other purposes, this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1994.

In this Order—
 “district” includes a borough, a metropolitan borough and a city;
 “electoral division” means an electoral division of the county of Lancashire;
 “Greater Manchester” means the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester, and any reference to Bury, to Manchester or to Salford is a reference to the Greater Manchester district of that name;
 “Lancashire” means the county of Lancashire, and any reference to Blackburn or to Rossendale is a reference to the Lancashire district of that name;
 “the map” means one of the 7 maps prepared by the Department of the Environment, marked “Maps of the Greater Manchester and Lancashire (County and District Boundaries) Order 1993”, duly numbered for reference, and deposited in accordance with regulation 5 of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976; any reference to an area as unparished is a reference to that area not forming part of any parish; and
 “ward” means a ward of the district from or to which an area is transferred.

The area which is marked B16 on map 7 shall become unparished and shall be transferred from Lancashire, from Blackburn, and from the parish of North Turton to—
(a) Greater Manchester;
(b) Bury;
(c) the Tottington ward; and to
(d) the Bury petty sessional division, and the Greater Manchester North coroner’s district.

The area which is marked B15 on map 6 shall be transferred from Greater Manchester, from Bury, and from the Ramsbottom ward to—
(a) Lancashire;
(b) Rossendale;
(c) the Eden ward and the Rossendale West electoral division; and to
(d) the Rossendale petty sessional division, and the East Lancashire coroner’s districtremaining unparished.

The following areas of Bury
(i) the part of the Holyrood ward marked B14 on map 5; and
(ii) the parts of the Sedgley ward marked B6, B8 and B10 on map 3shall be transferred to Manchester, to the Crumpsall ward, to the Manchester petty sessional division, and to the Manchester coroner’s district, remaining unparished.

(1) The areas marked B12 and B13 on map 4 shall be transferred from Manchester, and from the Crumpsall ward to Bury, and to the Holyrood ward.
(2) The areas which are marked B7, B9 and B11 on map 3 shall be transferred from Manchester, and from the Crumpsall ward to Bury and to the Sedgley ward.
(3) All areas transferred by this article shall additionally be transferred to the Bury petty sessional division and the Greater Manchester North coroner’s district, and shall remain unparished.

The following areas of Bury
(i) the parts of the Sedgley ward marked B4 and B5 on map 3; and
(ii) the part of the St Mary’s ward marked B1 on map 1-shall be transferred to Salford, to the Kersal ward, to the Salford petty sessional division, and to the Greater Manchester West coroner’s district, remaining unparished.

The areas which are marked B2 on map 1 and B3 on map 2 shall be transferred from Salford, and from the Kersal ward to Bury, to the St Mary’s ward, to the Bury petty sessional division, and to the Greater Manchester North coroner’s district, remaining unparished.

(1) In this article, “provision” means a provision of a development plan (as defined in section 336(1) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990).
(2) Any provision applying to an area transferred by this Order shall continue to apply to that area, notwithstanding the transfer, until replaced by a provision which so applies, and which is expressed to supersede the preserved provision.
