(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Fund Maternity and Funeral Expenses (General) Amendment Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st October 1992.
(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Social Fund Maternity and Funeral Expenses (General) Regulations 1987.

In regulation 3 of the principal Regulations (interpretation)—
(a) in the definition of “confinement” for the words “28 weeks” there shall be substituted the words “24 weeks”;
(b) after the definition of “responsible member” the following definition shall be inserted—“
 “still-born child” has the same meaning as in section 12 of thevBirths and Deaths Registration Act 1926 and section 56(1) of the Registrations of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Scotland) Act 1965 as they are amended by section 1 of the Still-birth (Definition) Act 1992;”

In regulation 5 of the principal Regulations (entitlement)—
(a) in paragraph (1)(b)(i) after the word “child” there shall be added the words “or still-born child”;
(b) for paragraph (2) there shall be substituted the following paragraph—“
(2) Subject to Part IV of these Regulations, the amount of a maternity payment shall be—
(a) where the claim is made before confinement, £100 in respect of each expected child;
(b) where the claim is made after confinement, £100 in respect of each child, including any still-born child;
(c) where the claim is made after a child has already been adopted, £100 in respect of that child.”.
