(1) This Order may be cited as the Isles of Scilly (Road Traffic Regulation) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 9th April 1990.
(1) In this Order —
 “the Council” means the Council of the Isles of Scilly;
 “the Isles” means the Isles of Scilly.

(1) The provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 other than sections 26(4) and 39 shall apply to the Isles, subject to the modification specified in paragraph (2) below, as if the Isles were a separate county.
(2) The modifications are the following —
(a) any reference to a county council or a local authority shall be construed as including a reference to the Council;
(b) any reference (however expressed) to the council of the county in which a place is or to the local authority in whose area a place is shall, in relation to a place in the Isles, be construed as a reference to the Council; and
(c) in section 142, for the definition of “highway authority” there shall be substituted —““highway authority” means the Council of the Isles of Scilly;”

The Isles of Scilly (Road Traffic Regulation) Order 1971 is hereby revoked.
