These Regulations may be cited as the Potassium Bromate (Prohibition as a Flour Improver) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 1st April 1990.

(1) The Miscellaneous Additives in Food Regulations 1980 shall be further amended by deleting—
(a) from Parts I and II of Schedule 1 thereto the items relating to Potassium bromate; and
(b) in Schedule 2 thereto, in respect of the items relating to “Bread” and “Flour” the references in column 2 (Permitted Miscellaneous Additive) to Potassium bromate.
(2) The Bread and Flour Regulations 1984 shall be further amended by deleting—
(a) from Schedule 3 thereto the item relating to 924 Potassium bromate; and
(b) from paragraph 6 of Schedule 6 thereto—
(i) in sub-paragraphs (2)(b) and (3)(b) the items relating to Potassium bromate; and
(ii) in sub-paragraph (4)(a) and (b) the references in column 2 (Permitted Miscellaneous Additive) to Potassium bromate.
