This Order may be cited as the Lothian and Strathclyde Regions and West Lothian and Motherwell Districts (Westcraigs) Boundaries Amendment Order 1990, and shall come into force on 1st April 1990.

In this Order–
 “the 1977 Regulations” means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977; and
 “boundary map” means the map prepared by the Scottish Office marked “The Lothian and Strathclyde Regions and West Lothian and Motherwell Districts (Westcraigs) Boundaries Amendment Order 1990 Map” and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations;and, in the Schedule to this Order, any reference to a boundary of a region is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.

Save insofar as they can have no application in relation to the area change effected by this Order, the provisions of the 1977 Regulations shall apply in relation thereto for the purposes of, or in consequence of, this Order.

Part of Motherwell District, comprising an area of ground at Westcraigs in Strathclyde Region and being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary map, shall be transferred to West Lothian District in Lothian Region.

The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order)–
(a) shall cease to form part of electoral division 60 (Fortissat) of Strathclyde Region and of ward 20 (Benhar) of Motherwell District; and
(b) shall form part of electoral division 2 (Bathgate West/Armadale) of Lothian Region and of ward 4 (Barbauchlaw) of West Lothian District.

SCHEDULE
Articles 2, 4 and 5

The area bounded by a line commencing on the Lothian/Strathclyde regional boundary at a point grid reference NS 9267 6717 on the south side of the course of a disused railway, northwestwards by fence line to the southern boundary of the unclassified road leading to Bathville, Armadale; then southwestwards along the southern boundary of that road, crossing the B718 road, to a point grid reference NS 8983 6579 at the western end of a bridge over the course of a dismantled railway; then northwestwards and northeastwards along the west side of the course of that dismantled railway to a point grid reference NS 8935 6660 where that course is crossed by a track leading to Standhill Farm; then northwards along the west side of that track to a point grid reference NS 8935 6673 on the south side of the course of the said disused railway; then westwards along the south side of the course of that disused railway to rejoin the said regional boundary at a point grid reference NS 8914 6673; then generally northwards, generally eastwards, and then southwards along the said regional boundary to the point of commencement.
