This Order may be cited as the Combined Probation Areas (Somerset) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 1st January 1991.

That part of Schedule 2 to the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986 which relates to the Somerset Probation Committee shall be amended by—
(a) omitting the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of Frome, Ilminster, Shepton Mallet, Somerton, Wells, Wincanton and Yeovil; and
(b) inserting in alphabetical order—
(i) in column 1 “South Somerset” and corresponding to this in column 3 “5”; and
(ii) in column 1 “Mendip” and corresponding to this in column 3 “3”.

The members of the Somerset Probation Committee appointed before 1st January 1991 by the justices for the petty sessional divisions of Ilminster, Somerton, Wincanton and Yeovil shall continue in office as if they had been appointed by the justices for the new petty sessional division of South Somerset.

The members of the Somerset Probation Committee appointed before 1st January 1991 by the justices for the petty sessional division of Frome, Shepton Mallet and Wells shall continue in office as if they had been appointed by the justices for the new petty sessional division of Mendip.
