(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 1st January 1991.
(2) In these Regulations a reference to “the principal Regulations” is to the National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1974.

(1) Regulation 36 of the principal Regulations (amounts and time of payments in consequence of suspension) shall be amended as follows:–
(a) in paragraph (1)(a)(i) for “£2,243” there is substituted “£2,478”;
(b) in paragraph (1)(a)(ii) for “£1,121” there is substituted “£1,239”;
(c) in paragraph (1)(b)(i) for “£1,121” there is substituted “£1,239”;
(d) in paragraph (1)(b)(ii) for “£2,243” there is substituted “£2,478”; and
(e) in paragraph (2) for “£117,689” in both places where it occurs there is substituted “£126,755”.
(2) In sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 16 (Occasional treatment) of Schedule 1 (Terms of service for dentists) to the principal Regulations, for head (j) there shall be substituted the following:–“
(j) palliative treatment that is immediately necessary (including the treatment of sensitive cementum or dentine, the stoning and smoothing of the surface of a tooth, or the provisions of a temporary crown);”.

The National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1989 are hereby revoked.
