These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Control of Interference from Household Appliances, Portable Tools etc.) (Amendment) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 24th April 1989.

In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Wireless Telegraphy (Control of Interference from Household Appliances, Portable Tools etc.) Regulations 1978.

In regulation 2 of the principal Regulations–
(a) after the definition of “B.S. 800: 1983” there shall be added the following definition:
 “B.S. 800: 1988” means the British Standard Specification for Limits and methods of measurement of radio interference characteristics of household electrical appliances, portable tools and similar electrical apparatus, B.S. 800: 1988, published on 31st October 1988;
(b) for the definition of “the Directive” there shall be substituted the following definition:
 “the Directive” means Council Directive No.76/889/EEC as amended by Commission Directive No. 87/308/EEC.

In regulation 3 of the principal Regulations, the phrase “(details of which are contained in clause 1.1 of B.S. 800: 1983)” shall be deleted.

In regulation 5(1) of the principal Regulations, after the words “The requirements of Regulation 6 below” there shall be inserted “as originally specified or as subsequently amended”

For regulation 6 of the principal Regulations there shall be substituted the following regulation:–

(1) Subject to paragraph (2) below, the apparatus shall be measured in the manner prescribed by clauses 6 and 7 of B.S. 800: 1983 or of B.S. 800: 1988 and shall comply with the relevant limits of interference prescribed in clause 4 of B.S. 800: 1983 or of B.S. 800: 1988, as the case may be, and, in relation to the testing of the apparatus and the limits of interference thereof, the apparatus shall comply with any other relevant procedures, requirements and specifications set out in B.S. 800: 1983 or B.S. 800: 1988, as the case may be.
(2) On and after 1st January 1990, apparatus which, by virtue of Regulation 4(1), is required to comply with Regulation 6, shall comply only with the relevant procedures, requirements and specifications of B.S. 800: 1988 and, in so far as such apparatus is concerned, the references to B.S. 800: 1983 in paragraph (1) above shall not apply.
