This Order may be cited as the Welfare of Poultry (Transport) (Amendment) Order 1989, shall apply to Great Britain, and shall come into force on 3rd February 1989.

Article 6 of the Welfare of Poultry (Transport) Order 1988 (protection of poultry during loading, unloading and transport) shall be amended as follows–
(a) at the beginning of paragraph (3)(g) there shall be inserted the words “subject to paragraph (3A) below,”; and
(b) after paragraph (3) there shall be inserted the following paragraph–“
(3A) The provisions of paragraph (3)(g) above shall not apply in the case of–
(a) ducks which are lifted or carried by the neck; or
(b) geese which are lifted or carried by the base of both wings.”.
