These Rules may be cited as the Probation (Amendment) Rules 1989 and shall come into force on 1st April 1989.

Rule 44 of the Probation Rules 1984 shall be amended by inserting after paragraph (4) the following paragraph–“
(5) Nothwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this rule, a probation committee shall not, on or after 1st April 1989, incur expense in the provision, maintenance, development or replacement of any computer or any associated apparatus or material except as authorised by the Secretary of State.”.
