
This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1989.

SCHEDULE
The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations—

These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1989.

Regulation 16 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967, as amended (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Regulations”), shall be further amended by the deletion of the second sentence and the substitution of the following therefor—“This fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration and shall be £80 for names entered on the register before 31st March 1990 and £128 for names entered on the register on 31st March 1990 and thereafter.”

Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by—
(a) the deletion in paragraphs (a), (b), (d) and (e) of the amounts “£70”, “£2050”, “£13” and “£7” and the substitution therefor of the amounts “£112”, “£33”, “£21” and “£11” respectively;
(b) the deletion of paragraph (c) and the substitution of the following therefor—“
(c) In the case of a veterinary surgeon or veterinary practitioner who declares in writing to the Registrar that he or she—
(i) is retired from gainful employment by reason of ill-health, parenthood, family commitments, or for such other reason as may be acceptable to the Council; or
(ii) having reached the age of sixty years is retired from all gainful employment of a veterinary nature”

Regulation 22 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion of the amounts “£10” and “£5” and the substitution therefor of the amounts “£16” and “£8”.

Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in the first and third sentences of paragraph (b) of the amount “£80” and the substitution therefor in each case of the amount “£128”.
PURSUANT to a resolution passed at a Meeting of the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons on the 26th day of October 1989, the Common Seal of the said Royal College was affixed hereto on the said 26th day of October 1989 in the presence of:—
